Volunteer Campus Supervision Program Model

Imagine the anticipation of the Safe School Action Group at Everett Middle School after a series of planning meetings led to the development of a school safety strategy involving parents. Think of the excitement and enthusiasm as the "trial run" for Everett Middle School's Community on Patrol is under way; a program designed to promote campus safety by increasing adult visibility and parent participation. Now imagine, two weeks into the program, the sorrow, shock, and disbelief of this community as they learn that a Community on Patrol volunteer has been fatally wounded on the way home from Everett Middle School.

A wake up call for the school and community? Yes. An unfortunate circumstance to be sure, but it also provided a ground swell of commitment and resolve by the school community to continue their efforts to make Everett Middle School and its surrounding community a safe place to live, work and learn.
