The Beginning
On a summer day in June, Kilee entered onto the stage of a northern California hospital delivery bed. Kilee was given two wonderful parents and seven brothers and sisters, all them close friends. When talking about her family, Kilee mentioned that "It is a wonderful gift to be surrounded by seven amazing individuals whose love and care for each other has only deepened throughout the years." Kilee's parents noticed her love of music at a very young age and recall that her first performance was at the age of three where she sang to a crowd of one hundred. Often her father said that, "Kilee's never found a microphone she didn't like." Since she participated in every talent show, church performance and choir she could find, her father's words have become a statement of fact.
Kilee has developed her skills as a vocalist and performer, coaching with some of the best instructors in the Sacramento and Los Angeles area. In college, Kilee majored in music performance and trained in classical and jazz styles. She began "making up" songs at the age of nine. In fact, Kilee still has all of her early writings and looks at them periodically whenever life gets a little too serious. She now writes lyrics and melodies in many styles and has recorded some of her original songs. Her goals include recording an album of all original music.
While continuing her college education, Kilee started a job as an instructor of Ballroom and Latin dancing. She expanded her repertoire to also include jazz and Hip-hop dance styles. Now Kilee is a certified instructor who co-owns Sacramento DanceSport Project. The largest same-sex Ballroom and Latin club in the United States. Sacramento DanceSport gives annual concerts and participates in competitions worldwide. Kilee and her business partner, Camille Wojtasiak, recently won the Gail Lang's art and cultural award for their contribution to the LGBT community. Kilee is proud of everything she has accomplished, but in closing remarked that this is only the beginning.
